Introduction

The climatic and balneological Vyšné Ružbachy spa is located in the northeastern Slovakian hilly country in the climatic region of the mountainous zones. It is surrounded by coniferous forests which pass over into the spa parks and lend them a special mountainous character. For patients' accommodation there are three spa sanatoria there. In the Vyšné Ružbachy spa there are happily joined two natural curative factors suitable for the application of healing: sources of mineral waters and favourable climatic conditions. In an adequate combination both are exploited for the therapy of patients affected with with nerve, mental and some vocational ailments.

History

In 1549 there was a "golden age" for spa Vyšné Ružbachy when the mayor was Count Sebastian Lubomirski. This prompted the construction and social tourism. In 1595 was built spa house with a swimming pool, kitchen, dining room and living room. In 1825, the bath became the property of Baron von Jony, which began with the reconstruction He built a castle here, a new bath house and bath mirror. In 1923 was built by natural thermal spa, which was at that time the largest in Slovakia. Gradually began to change Vyšné Ružbachy on most modern spas in Slovakia.

Location and climate

Spa Vyšné Ružbachy resulting in abundant mineral springs at the eastern foot of Spisska Magura. Is located at 623 m.n.m., in the valley Zálažné stream.

Tourist attractions

Spa Vyšné Ružbachy have a uniqueness lake Krater, filled with natural spring thermal water from Isabella. It is situated on top of the heap, and travertine since 1967, is a protected national monument. Visitors can use a variety of spa optional excursions to nearby towns, caves, castles and the Andy Warhol Museum.

Surroundings

During the winter environment provides Vyšné Ružbachy excellent conditions for cross-country skiing, which is close to the ski slopes. Very popular are the trips to the surroundings - the historic city of Kosice, Levoča, Bardejov, or visit Poland, for example, or rafting the river Dunajec.

Vyšné Ružbachy will happily combine two natural healing factors, suitable for therapeutic use: hot springs mineral waters and favorable climatic conditions. The beneficial effect of natural carbonic mineral water lies in the fact that while bathing the skin absorbs carbon dioxide, which causes enlargement of cutaneous capillary blood flow of the skin.
